GlamGlow Super-Mud Clearing Treatment Review

Hey guys! I’ve owned the GlamGlow Super-Mud Clearing Treatment for a while now, but never really had a use for it (thanks ipsy)

I recently tried out the fresh Soy Face Cleanser and had a breakout pop up the next morning. So it was the perfect opportunity to try out Super-Mud as a spot treatment overnight.

The next morning, I woke up, rinsed it all off and went about my business. The spot was still elevated a little, but the redness and most of the swelling was gone!

Then the morning after that, I woke up with no evidence that there was even a breakout in the first place!

I truly believe that this GlamGlow treatment did wonders for my breakout in less than 2 days! Now, if only I’d had this years ago!

This retails for $69, but you can use coupon code WELCOME15 for 15% off your first purchase on GlamGlow’s website.

Target Beauty Box Unboxing

Hey y’all! So I was finally able to get my hands on one of Target’s coveted Beauty Boxes and I promised an unboxing as soon as it came in…

Wellllll, it’s here! I love the simple, yet sleek design of the box.

This box’s theme is Spring Fling and comes filled with goodies!

On to the unboxing:

L’Oreal Colour Riche La Lacque Lip Pen in Lacque-y You – $8.99

This is a gorgeous rosy pink shade perfect for Spring! The only downside to this for me is that it is a shiny finish rather than matte.

Andalou Naturals Fruit Stem Cell Science Night Repair Cream – $24.99

I’m low-key obsessed with anti-aging products so I can’t wait to try this out!

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream – $32

This is the most exciting product in this box for me! I love the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask so I’m thrilled to try this one!

Burt’s Bees Cleansing Oil – $15.99

I love trying new cleansers so this is a good item for me.

Hair Food Dry Shampoo – $4.99

Currently on sale for buy one get one 50% off!

I have a ton of dry shampoos already, but this is the perfect size to take with me on vacation.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser – $11.99

TWO cleansers makes me happy! I’ve been wanting to try some CeraVe products to see if they’re worth the price so this is the perfect opportunity.

dermae Firming DMAE Moisturizer – $19.99

$5 gift card with the purchase of 2

I’ve tried a dermae product before and I kind of liked it. The consistency was a little thick though so I’m hoping this one isn’t as bad.

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Towelettes For Body in Medium – $7.79

$5 gift card with the purchase of 3

The L’Oreal towelette may be slightly too dark for me as I’m pretty fair skinned, but I might give it a try.

Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream – $24

I’ve heard good things about this Egyptian Magic cream so I’m excited to try it.

Alright, that’s all of the products in the Spring Fling Target Beauty Box.

If you weren’t able to get your hands on one, keep an eye out on here and Instagram because I will let y’all know as soon as they become available! More information on these boxes and its contents is available here.

Liebster Award

First off, I just want to give a huge thank you to Beauty Amateur Hour for my first Liebster Award nomination! She’s great and reviews a lot of new and exciting products so y’all should definitely go check out her blog!

The Liebster Award is an award that exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers to help new bloggers get discovered and gain recognition.

Liebster rules: You must mention and link the blogger who nominated you and then answer the 11 questions from that blogger. Then you nominate 5-11 new bloggers and ask 11 new questions for them to answer.

Beauty Amateur Hour’s Questions:

Do you have a favorite YouTuber? Who is it and why? A few. I love Jaclyn Hill and KathleenLights because they’re great and funny. Bonus, they’re from Florida. I also love MannyMUA and one my new favorites is Casey Holmes!

What is your favorite fast food restaurant? Five Guys. I could seriously eat a Bacon Cheeseburger and Cajun Fries everyday!!

What is your favorite makeup brand? For drugstore, I like Maybelline, Wet n Wild and e.l.f. For high-end, I really like tarte, Too Faced and Urban Decay.

If you could only use one beauty product for the rest of your life, what would it be? Foundation or mascara. I have pretty fair skin so I have redness that I like to cover, but then again how could you live without mascara!? This is a tough one

If you were trapped on a deserted island, what 3 items would you bring with you? I would want Bentley (my pup) with me for sure! J. might be nice to have around too… Item-wise though, I would like to have a camera, sunscreen (I burn too easy), and books

What is your favorite television show? Soooo many. Scandal, The Catch, Royal Pains are probably my top favorites right now.

Name a place in the world you want to travel to the most. Everywhere! My current goal is to go to Puerto Rico by the end of 2017! It’s something I was supposed to do with my Papa, but never got the chance.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream, gelato, or frozen yogurt? Blue Bell Buttered Pecan

What is your favorite band or music group? Another hard one.. but Brooks & Dunn and Journey have always been my favorite of all. I also really love Florida Georgia Line!

Why did you start your blog? Over the past year, I’ve watched and read countless YouTube beauty gurus and beauty bloggers and they’ve helped my makeup skills a ton! So I just wanted to be able to give back and help at least one person the way I have been.

How do you see your blog a year from now? I want it to stay true to myself, but I want to branch out and expand more. Currently, my budget doesn’t allow me to buy a lot of high-end makeup, but I would like to be able to review more in the future. In the meantime, I got you at the drugstore boo! 😉

For my nominations, I nominate:

• amakeupjunkiesblog

• Casual Chic Makeup

KarmicSunflower

moralondra

• Simple Prairie Girl

I also challenge any other readers who wants to go ahead and answer these questions! Be sure to link this post so I can read your answers!

I’m not the most creative person, but here are my questions for y’all:

1. What’s the one beauty product or tool that you can’t live without?

2. What are your favorite blogs?

3. What are your hobbies?

4. Which is your favorite hobby?

5. Where is your happy place?

6. What’s your dream vacation?

7. What’s the one thing you think someone just getting started in the makeup world should have?

8. What’s your most favorite dupe? (something you’ve owned and compared yourself)

9. What made you start blogging?

10. Do you have any pets?

11. Where are you from?

Thanks again to Beauty Amateur Hour for nominating me!

Hard Candy 1000 Lashes Mascara Review

Hey guys! Today, I’m reviewing Hard Candy 1000 Lashes Fiber Mascara in Midnight Black for you! You can get this exclusively at Walmart.

I just knew I wasn’t going to like this mascara from the get go.

I actually got this mascara from a family member who didn’t like it. So when I first opened the tube, I thought the wand was full of her lashes (gross!), but I soon realized they were actually fibers (lol).

I decided to give it a try anyway, because if it’s a good mascara, you can’t beat the $6 price tag… But it isn’t.

The application is very light and has hardly any pigmentation at all.

The fibers are supposed to weave in to your lashes to “add extraordinary length and volume” which I found to be not the case at all. In fact, the only thing the fibers did for me was fall all over the place the whole time j was wearing this.

The first time I used this, I layered it under Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. It did nothing extra for my lashes and the fibers still get everywhere.

I tried this mascara again, but by itself this time. I applied two coats and, on my left eye, applied some translucent powder between coats.

I had hoped the powder would give this mascara the oomph that I so desired, but I was let down yet again.

Just shy of 4 hours after applying, I have a few fibers on my undereyes and cheekbones. The one thing I can say is that the fibers haven’t gotten in my eyes, which I was afraid of.

It does smudge a lot and not long after applying.

Final Verdict: This mascara is very affordable at can only be found at Walmart. I do not, however, believe this mascara is worth it nor would I purchase or recommend purchasing.

What’s In My Makeup Bag?

Hey y’all! I’m nosy af so seeing “what’s in my bag” posts, hauls and others of the sort make my day.

So today I wanted to do something similar.

We’re going to take a sneak peek at what’s inside my makeup bag!

Some background: I used to be the girl who would carry all of her makeup with her no matter where she went. I would have to touch it up or reapply it completely about mid-day.

Since then, I have honed in my makeup skills and found the makeup that suits my skin type and needs best so I no longer need to carry a full face’s worth of makeup.

I also now own about a trunk full of makeup that I definitely wouldn’t be able to carry with me anymore… lol

Here are the beauty products and tools I keep with me day-to-day:

Makeup

e.l.f. Cool Bronzer quad – ($4) I don’t really use the bronzers in this, but it comes with a pretty large mirror so I keep it with me for that reason!

Maybelline Brow Define & Fill Duo in Blonde – ($7.99) The pencil end is completely out (I actually don’t think there’s much product in there to begin with..) so I just use this for the powder when my brows need something more.

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes in Daringly Nude – ($5.50) or whatever shade I happen to be wearing that day …but let’s be real, I’m always wearing Daringly Nude 💘

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lip Balm SPF 15 – ($1.95 / I bought mine at Dollar Tree for $1) I suffer from terribly dry (like Sahara dry) lips so I keep chapstick everywhere! This one has been a lifesaver!

Smashbox Photo Op Eyeshadow Trio in Filter – ($28) This eyeshadow trio has the 3 shades I use in pretty much every eye look. Bonus: they’re all matte!

tarte to go Smooth Operator – ($14) I keep this with me to vanquish any shine I get right on the spot! It’s great!

Urban Decay Travel-Size Perversion Mascara – ($10) This used to be my Holy Grail mascara when I first started treading the high-end makeup waters. It’s pigmented and creamy! I love using this when my lashes need some extra oomph!

Tools

Bobby pins – You never know when you’ll need one and at least I know where these 2 are 😉

Disposable mascara wand – This is nice for separating clumps in your lashes or grooming your brows.

Emite Make Up Professional Slant Tweezer – ($25) Tweezers are a necessity. You never know when a pesky little stray hair is going to pop up..

Hair tie – I keep one of these bad boys in every bag I own!!

Mini lip brush – This came with e.l.f. HD Undereye Setting Powder ($3), but I keep this for lip touch-ups!

Salon Perfect Dual-Ended Brow Brush & Spoolie – This came with the Salon Perfect Brow Pomade ($4.88) I currently use, but I use a different brush with it so I keep this one in here just in case.

tarte The Slenderizer Bamboo Contouring Brush – ($34, I have the travel-size version from the Sephora Beauty Closet, also available here) I like this for blending out or touching up my contour throughout the day.

Misc.

equate beauty Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes – ($1.47) I’ve needed these so many times when I didn’t have them so I keep a pack with me at all times now!

Oil Blotting Sheets – These are from Mary Kay ($6), but any will suffice.

Q-tips Purse Pack – (97¢) These work great for touching up shadows throughout the day

Shadow Shields ($9.99) – These are great for preventing fall-out while applying eyeshadow or mascara smudges

Single-Use Eyedrops – I like to have these with me at all times.

Okay, so I know I still carry a ton of things with me, but these are the items I find myself reaching for throughout the day. Plus, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

#BloomVoxBox

It’s that time again….

VoxBox time!!!

This is the 3rd VoxBox I have been fortunate enough to receive this year, which is crazy. Last year I only got one! So thank you Influenster!!

This is the #BloomVoxBox made for Spring.

This box seems a little weird to me since most VoxBoxes are usually products to test out before they’re released, but most of these products are already out….

It almost seems as if they were just throwing different things in?

I’m not complaining though because I do like most of the items in this box!

On to the UNBOXING:

The Bloom VoxBox came with 6 products: 1 full size nail polish, 5 sample/travel size beauty products and 1 food item.

SinfulColors Nail Polish in Teal Midnight (no longer available) caught my attention immediately!! — $1.99

It’s a beautiful teal color full of blue and green glitters! I already own Nail Junkie which is similar, but lighter and has golden glitters as well.

SinfulColors nail polishes haven’t been my favorite because I have a really hard time getting them to last on my nails. However, for the price, they have a wide range of pretty colors in a pinch.

Going hand in hand with the nail polish, I received a 3-pack of Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Pads — $1.49

I’m differential on this as I just bought a full pack of these this week.

They work great! The package says just one wipe will remove all polish from 10 fingers or toes, but I feel like these have the potential do remove both nail polish!

Note: I had hot pink nail polish on and it only took one small section of the wipe to remove it instantly! No mess like I usually have with acetone and cotton balls either!

Secret Outlast Xtend Invisible Solid mini — $4.26

NOTE: Click the Secret link above for free (plus 99¢ S/H) Secret deodorant minis + in-store coupons!

Secret has always been my go-to brand for deodorant.

I received the TryDry VoxBox here recently and it almost made me rethink this, but these minis are perfect throw in my purse just in case!

Not Your Mother’s Plump For Joy Thickening Hair Lifter — $7 ($3 for the size I got)

This is supposed to thicken your hair and add body, shine and strength.

It smells good so that’s nice!

Alright so now for the not-so-exciting items:

Sunbelt Bakery Granola Bar in Oats & Honey — 50¢ for a single bar, $2.69 for a multi-pack

I’ve tried these in the past and I just don’t care for them.

This bar felt very sticky and was very drying.

And, finally, the most expensive product in this box is actually my least favorite:

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil — $29

This is a dry oil that is supposed to nourish, repair and soften the face, body and hair in a single step.

….but it smells soooooo bad!

I can’t get over the mature smell to even give this a try so I’m going to pass this on to a family member.

NOTE: The smell lingers. I opened this to smell it and it was about 20 minutes or so before I finally got rid of it.

Alright that’s everything for this one. All in all, this was a pretty decent VoxBox for me.

I really like the color of the nail polish and the deodorant mini! The nail polish remover wipes are nice.

The granola bar and dry oil are my least favorites.

Have you tried any of these products? Do you like them? Do you hate them? What’s your favorite? How do you use it? Leave me a comment below!

If you’re not an Influenster yet, I highly suggest you sign up today! You get FREE, (mostly) full-sized items before they hit the shelves to keep just for testing and reviewing them!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions and reviews are my own.

Cleaning your brushes – the RIGHT way

Hey guys. So I’ve been reading a lot of posts about how to clean your makeup brushes lately.

And with all of these posts, I see one particular tip in common: “lay your brushes flat to dry”

Do NOT lay your brushes flat to dry.

Laying your brushes flat can still allow water to get into the ferrule and weaken the glue that holds your bristles together.

Instead, you should try to angle them downwards (brush head at bottom).

An easy trick is to roll a small towel and place it under the ends of the handles.

I don’t own a fancy drying rack or anything special like that so this is what I do and I never have any problems with my brushes!

Also, I want to mention to be careful when using dish soap + olive oil to clean them. Too much olive oil and you’ll have some pretty nasty, greasy brushes on your hands.

After this happened to me, I made the switch to shampoo and I love it. It gets my brushes clean and they smell good. It’s the easiest, cheapest and my favorite way to clean my brushes.

I hope this helps! I don’t want y’all to have to suffer like I did. (A moment of silence for my Sigma F80 💔)

April Haul

Hey guys! So I’ve been thinking about how I wanted to do this post for awhile now and I finally have the answer!

I currently do not purchase enough products throughout the month to have new monthly favorites every month and I rarely purchase a ton of items at once.

So rather than doing multiple mini hauls all month, I’ve decided that I will do a cumulative monthly haul at the end of each month instead.

Monthly hauls will only include products, tools and whatnot I’ve purchased or have been gifted by friends/family IN that month. They will not include items from subscription boxes, free samples/testing sites (influenster, CrowdTap) and such.

I will list my favorite purchases from that month at the bottom of each haul post rather than doing a separate monthly favorites post. (sorry if that makes no sense.. I think you’ll understand when you see it below though)

I will also link any of my reviews or other blog posts to each product for more information! (just to keep these posts from being a 3482 page essay 😉)

Now, on with the haul!

Eyes. I’m a sucker for an eyeshadow palette so I bought 3 this month… They’re all nudes. It’s normal.

NYC collaborated with Demi Lovato on the Lovatics by Demi palette. Read my review on this palette and see swatches here!

I couldn’t resist the Wet n Wild Au Naturel palette in Bare Necessities. Review and swatches here.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection in Comfort Zone! The bottom right shade has me in complete awe 😍 (there will also be a possible dupe on this particular shadow soon…)

Maybelline Color Tattoo crayon in Barely Beige. I like to layer this under similar shadows as a primer.

I’m super excited to try out the Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil in Sleek Onyx. One, I loooooove this Maybelline Gel liner. Two, I have crazy watery eyes and I’m always looking for something that will last in my waterline.

I was given a sample sized Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper from a family member.

I was also given Hard Candy 1000 Lashes mascara. This mascara has fibers that are supposed to weave into your own lashes to create length and volume.

Concealers. I’ve been trying out some new color correctors and concealers. And I’ve finally discovered my Holy Grail concealer!

Leave me a comment below if you’d like me to do a post solely on these concealers and color correctors!

Rimmel Match Perfection 2-in-1 Concealer and Highlighter in Fair. This is a good concealer. The next one, though, is a great concealer.

My HG is none other than Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Light. I know, I know. I’m so late to the bandwagon, but this concealer deserves every praise it gets. I also picked up shades Fair and Deep to play around with cream contouring. More details available here.

L.A. Girl HD PRO Conceal in Green Corrector. I also own this in the Orange Corrector.

Wet n Wild CoverAll Correcting Palette. This one’s decent and travel-friendly.

Face.

Maybelline’s MasterFix by FaceStudio line came out with a setting spray and a setting powder. Both are great!

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette in Caramel Toffee (the darker one)

Lips. Lipsticks are one of my weaknesses so I tend to gravitate towards this section first.

I bought 5 shades of Wet n Wild Velvet Matte Lip Colors

Jordana Modern Matte lipstick in Matte Bare

Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick in Chaffeur

NYX Lingerie in Baby Doll

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes in Daringly Nude is my Holy Grail lipstick! Details about this lipstick can be found here.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Born With It is a new shade and formula to me! (I’m trying to venture out into the wild abyss….)

Skincare. The most important.

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water is my favorite way remove makeup!

I picked up the equate Moisturizing Lotion which is comparable to Cetaphil‘s version

Safe Harbor Natural Suncare Face & Neck Natural Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 40. (similar here)

Brushes. My favorite purchase, always.

The Real Techniques Setting Brush is my go-to for highlighting!

e.l.f. recently came out with a bunch of new face brushes. I bought the Ultimate Blending Brush and it is perfect for foundation!

I finally found 3 of Wet n Wild’s new brushes and I bought the Flat Top and the Large Eyeshadow. I decided against the Foundation brush as I don’t use that type of brush. I’m still looking for the rest of these!!

April Haul Favorites:

• Maybelline Waterproof Gel Pencil in Sleek Onyx

• Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Light

• Wet n Wild megaglo Contouring Palette in Caramel Toffee (mainly just the yellow side)

• Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water

• e.l.f. Ultimate Blending Brush
