Walmart Beauty Box Unboxing & Reviews

I’m a bit of a subscription box junkie. There was a point when I was shelling out over a couple hundred dollars a month for these wonderful monthly gifts. But I’ve come to my senses and narrowed it down to a couple that remain near and dear to my heart.

So when I was on a quest to find out what other sorts of boxes were out there, I stumbled across the Walmart and Target beauty boxes. Walmart’s box is a whopping $5 (hello!!) and Target’s comes in at $7 (update: now $10). Walmart’s box is technically “free” you’re just paying for shipping while Target offers free shipping. Walmart’s is a seasonal subscription and Target’s, though seasonal, you have to manually purchase each box online.

When I saw that these boxes were less than $10 each, I jumped for joy and praised the heavens. I’m all about a good deal and these deliver.

I can’t say much more about Target’s boxes because I’ve never actually purchased one since I always forget…. (face palm) but they do list all of the contents of the box on their website so you can decide if it’s for you beforehand.

Update: I have finally gotten my hands on a Target box! Read all about it here!

However, the Walmart box is my baby, my true love, my heart and soul…you get it. For only $5, this little box comes filled to the brim with amazing beauty products you can find right on the shelves of your local Walmart! I’ve never received a box that hasn’t been almost overflowing so you definitely get your money’s worth.

Walmart Spring Beauty Box

This season’s box is filled with goodies to prepare and perfect your Springtime looks.

The most exciting thing in this box for me is the new Biore Baking Soda Pore cleanser. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this ever since the baking soda line came out. I did hear a bad review about it leaving skin dry so I got a little iffy, but after trying a sample, that wasn’t the case for me at all. It leaves my skin feeling so smooth and soft. So getting another sample of this cleanser in this box makes me happy! You can also try out the scrub.

Another thing I was giddy to try is the Colgate Optic White toothepaste. I’ve been a diehard Colgate Total user for years so I was a little skeptical at first. This promises to whiten teeth in only three days. I’ve noticed a lot of people had issues with the taste and I can definitely agree that it’s weird compared to Total.

Update: I’ve been using this toothepaste for a week and I have noticed a slight change in whiteness, but nothing dramatic.

Verdict: It does whiten slightly, but I did not notice any difference within the three days of using as promised.

I got a sample of CeraVe Healing Ointment. This is supposed to help extremely dry skin and exzema. The product is very moisturizing without the greasy feel I get from so many lotions, but I feel like this would have been a better product for Winter when my hands get super dry and cracked. It has no smell to it whatsoever.

Next up, Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. While I’m glad it’s suited for my fair to medium skin tone, I’m not really a huge fan of these products as I can never apply them without streaking.

They also sent a Curél Itch Defense Body Wash. It says it’s a calming cleanser for dry, itchy skin, but my first thought wasthat it’d be great for itchy mosquito bites! How Florida of me. I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m hoping it will be perfect for summer nights outside with all the mosquito bites I’m prone to receiving. You gotta love summertime in Florida…

I received the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Subtle Lightening Shampoo. I have naturally platinum blonde hair, dyed it pitch black and now it’s faded into a dirty blonde/light brown color so I’m going to give this a try before passing on to my sister (aka my product miss Guinea pig).

Update: The formula looks like a liquid bronzer. It has a slightly odd smell, but it’s not bad and it’s not overpowering. My hair felt kind of stripped and dry after I rinsed it out so I applied a generous amount of conditioner in shower and also used a leave-in conditioner. Two days later, though, my hair still feels and looks incredibly soft!

Verdict: After only one use, there is no change in my hair color. I will continue to use and update.

Color Stick in Pink Grapefruit

The one thing I immediately give away is the Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick. I’ve recently started reacquainting myself with glossy lip products, but I don’t do sheer. This formula is basically a nice tinted lip balm. It’s a really pretty color and smells great, but this went straight to my sister!

Neutrogena Moisturizer and Burt’s Bees BB Cream

Bonus: there are always a few product flyers/coupons/sample packets thrown in the bottom. The samples this season were the Burt’s Bees BB Cream in Light/Medium, which only comes in three shades so that’s a bummer, and the Neutrogena Acne Correct & Cover Moisturizer. Both samples come with coupons attached. One of my favorite flyers is the L’Oreal True Match Foundation shade card. I love using this to find my perfect match when seasons and skin tones change. This also has an attached coupon.

Note: I couldn’t find the Burt’s Bees BB Cream listed on Walmart’s website anywhere so I’m not sure if it’s only in stores or if they don’t even have it yet or what. I’ll update the link when available.
